Lloyd Belt Sr

Lloyd Wanye Belt was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 20, 1940 to Theodore and Ezia Jan Belt. He was the twin brother of Leta Belt.

Lloyd confessed a hope in a risen Savior and was a long time member of Maple Street Baptist Church. He sang in the choir as a young man and was a regular attendee until his health began to fail.

Lloyd was educated in the Omaha Public school district where he graduated from Omaha Technical High. Shortly after high school Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. he served overseas in Korea, Guam, Okinawa and Hawaii before being honorably discharged.

Lloyd came out of the service at full speed. he was a working man's man; always finding something to do with his hands. Lloyd worked as a landscaper, truck driver and a butcher for 16 years at Wilson. But most of the time he was a mechanic. He loved fixing cars for people all over town. His latest venture was as a cook for the Des Moines Public Schools. He had a wide range of tastes in food and music. His eclectic personality led him from Cowboys to Count Basie and all points in between. he could play the clarinet and he loved Frank Sinatra singing with the "Rat Pack", or

Smokey Robinson crooning a love song. Lloyd loved watching sports where he would always root for the underdog. He watched Spanish language television to watch the pretty girls. He could draw and paint and even sing a little. He like collecting cars, cameras and guns and cutting grass. Lloyd thought the best time in the world was time she spent with the grandchildren.

On January 20, 2015, Lloyd answered the Master's call to rest. He was 74 years old. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Ezia and an infant brother.

Lloyd leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 30 years, Penny Brwon; his children, Loleta harris, Lloyd Belt Jr. and Phylicia Belt; his grandchildren, Rinity and Akira; his twin sister, Leta Belt and sister, Cleo Smith, along with ahos to nices, nephews, extended family and many friends.
