Lillian Brown

Ms. Lillian Margarete "Queen Bee" Brown was born on February 25, 1933 in Monroe County, MO; to Marvin Hutchens and Dorothy Wilhite-McNeal. Lillian was educated in Missouri and graduated from Garfield High School in Mexico, MO.

Lillian was a long time member of Morning Star Baptist Church and served on the Mother's Board. Lillian enjoyed spending time reading her bible. As a child, she attended St. Paul AME and Maple Street Baptist churches where she sang in the choirs. Lillian loved gospel music. Her all time favorite songs were "Precious Lord, Let the Church Say Amen and "There is a Fountain."

Queen Bee, as she was affectionately known, was the matriarch of the family, the epitome of a strong woman. Lillian raised her younger siblings. She had a mother's heart and was always encouraging. The Queen Bee was tough yet compassionate.

Lillian could stir it up! Everything was homemade, she didn't mess with no microwave! Amongst her specialties were sweet potatoes and pineapple upside down cake. Lillian was a "dresser," she was always sharp. She loved to shop, especially for hats. She enjoyed needle point, crocheting and traveling. Lillian loved her family and treasured time spent with her grandbabies, who adored their "Big Nana." She loved kissing her sweet babies.

On November 5, 2015 Lillian answered the Master's call to rest. She was 82 years old. Waiting to welcome her home were her parents, Marvin Hutchens and Dorothy Wilhite-McNeal; her children, Marilyn Calhoun, Howard Logan and Terry Logan; her sisters, Lutie, Catherine, Francis and Sherry; her brother, Marvin Hutchens Jr.; and her grandfather, Jack Hutchens.

Left to cherish Lillian's memory are her children, Min. Pauletta (Steven) Jones, Tee (Larry) Page, Denise (Waterlee) Gates and Lisa (Raymond) Freeman; her sisters, Minnie Roland and Leantha Wilhite; 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of loving nieces , nephews, extended family members and friends.
