Kevin DuVall Turner was born on March 8th, 1967, in Des Moines, IA, to Lawrence Estelle Jacobs, Jr. and Ruthie Jefferson-Mckenzie. Kevin was educated in the Des Moines Public school system, attending Logan Elementary and graduating North High. He went on to graduate from the American College of Hairstyling in 2005, beginning a successful career as a barber at Imperial Kuttz. Later, he returned to the college as a volunteer to mentor aspiring barbers and he always looked out for the kids who patronized the barber shop. In his youth and early adulthood, Kevin was an avid and skilled bowler, even participating in a league. His favorite sport was basketball, though his passion for it never surpassed his love for the Minnesota Vikings football team. Kevin would have been over the moon that his Los Angeles Dodgers just won the World Series. Kevin relocated to California for a bit but decided to come back for family. Kevin was a devoted, present and caring father. He was very protective of his daughters. He had a great sense of humor, and was an adept and prolific sh**-talker. His laughter was contagious and could fill up a room. Kevin loved music and you could find him listening to his favorite rappers but “not any of these new cats.” Kevin may have presented a tough exterior, but he had a heart of gold, a gentle giant who was willing to help anyone at any time. Few are as accepting, kind and loyal as Kevin.
Kevin made a beautiful peaceful transition from his life on Earth while surrounded by loving family on November 01, 2024.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents Lawrence Jacobs Sr and Margret Jacobs, and Shirley Talbert, and great-grandparents Ruth and Charles Brown.
