Julius Henrie

Julius Henrie, 45, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. Immediately after his visitation his funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Moses Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

He was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Richard and Shirley (Carter) Henrie III. Julius grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Philadelphia High School in 1998. He loved to travel and left following school. Julius lived in Milwaukee and Minneapolis before settling in Des Moines in 2016. He worked as a cook at various places, and everyone loved his BBQ. 

Julius was a family man and loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed listening to music, cooking, and helping to raise Chamari and Chamyrah. Julius has a contagious laugh and infectious smile. He enjoyed bringing joy to those around him. 

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his fiancé Shaneeka Miller and her children Chamari and Chamyrah Crayton of Des Moines; mother, Shirley Henrie of Philadelphia, MS; siblings Whitney Henrie of Philadelphia, MS, Sherita Cotton of East St. Louis, IL, Fleuretta (Randy) Thrash of Greenville, TX, Mark Nienhuis of East St. Louis, IL, and Richard Henrie of Missouri; sister-in-love, Lashawnda Miller-Apry (Demeer) and Mother-in-love Antionette McCalebb; very special aunties, Catina Sanders and Elizabeth Wilson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. 

Julius was preceded in death by his dad; brother, Richard Robert Henrie IV; grandma, Mildred Hudson; and grandpa, Ezell Wilson. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Julius and her family.
