Joyce Washington

Joyce Marie Washington was born May 6, 1943 to Sonny Orie Washington and Monette Jones Washington in Des Moines, IA. She attended and graduated from North High school. After high school, Joyce found employment with the United States Postal Service.

Joyce gave her life to the Lord at a young age. She was baptized at Corinthian Baptist but later in life she gained an understanding of that commitment and elected to be baptized again at Mt. Calvary Ministries of Hope. She was a tireless church worker who loved helping by cooking and baking for her church. Joyce never met a card game she didn't like. From Old Maid to Pokeno to Tonk to poker. She also like to fish, bowl and do needle point.

Besides loving the Lord, Joyce loved her sons! She didn't let them stray very far. They had old fashioned 'home training'. She kept them in church and insisted they dress in their suits when they went.

On March 16, 2016, Joyce won the battle and went home to be with the Lord. She was finally free!

Preceding Joyce in death were her parents and her two brothers, Reginald and Michael.

Left to treasure her memory are her sons Zachary, Zavon and Orlando; her siblings, Donnie Wells, Sr., Patty Heard, Mary Jo Murray; a niece, four nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
