John Alecks Moore, Jr. was born on November 27, 1956 in Camp Lejune, North Carolina to John and Billie Jean (Burrell) Moore.
John, affectionately known as "Ploots" was educated in the Des Moines Public School system where he graduated from East High School. He attended Union Baptist Church with his Mom while growing up.
John came from a long line of cooks and chefs. It was no surprise that he made that his lifes calling also. When he had spare time he enjoyed playing dominoes, listening to music and watching and discussing basketball and football at length. He knew all the stats, the coaches, the strengths and weakness of the players and was the greatest arm chair quarterback around.
John passed away on May 13, 2017 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was 60 years old. He was preceded in death by his father, John Moore Sr; his daughter, Melissa Moore; his grandmothers, Gladys Stubberfield and Toby Hill; and his grandfather, Mandred Moore.
Left to cherish Johns memory are his son, John (Kiana) Moore, Jr; his mother, Billie Jean Moore; sister, Dana May; grandchildren, Alexis Alvaro, Jada Moore, Roman Moore, Phoenix Moore, Suraya Moore; Eden Barefield, Echo Harvard-Barefield and Zion Barefield, along with a host of extended family and many friends.
