John A Vanpelt

John A. Van Pelt was born September 21, 1930 in Norwalk, Iowa to Otto W. Van Pelt and Kathryn L. (Clarke) Van Pelt. He graduated from Osceola High School and went off to see the world. Times were hard then and John enlisted in the U. S. Army. He served honorably during the Korean War and was discharged as a Tech Sergeant. John married the former Dorothy Ann Todden and they added a baby girl named Sandra to their family. John worked hard to provide for them. With his natural ability and some schooling he became a good diesel mechanic. But what John most loved to do was pack his little family into the camper and hit the road. He loved to drive and travel and the camper fit nicely. He and Dorothy became snowbirds. John passed away on January 14, 2018 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his beloved Dorothy; his parents and his brothers Earl and George. John is survived by his daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Frazier, his brother, Clyde Van Pelt; a sister in law Dorothy Rolene and extended family and friends. Funeral Service
