Jimmy Lee West, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on November1, 2024, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Born on September 13, 1970, in Navasota, Texas, Jimmy lived a life characterized by hard work, kindness, and a deep devotion to his family.
As a very hard-working and dependable truck driver, Jimmy exemplified commitment and dedication throughout his career. His tireless work ethic was matched only by his passion for life, which included spending precious moments with his family, riding his motorcycle, and enjoying peaceful days fishing. Jimmy was not just a man who worked hard; he was a friend to all, always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and strangers alike.
His family was the cornerstone of his life. He took pride in being a husband to his loving wife, Ruth West, of Des Moines, Iowa, and cherished every moment spent with his children: Adrienne Johnson (Marc), Giovanny Martinez (Coleen), Marilyn Martinez (George), Alex West, and Melanye Martinez. The joy he felt as a grandfather was palpable in his playful interactions with his grandchildren, Rosey, Maya, Dominic, Olivia, Myles, Sean, and Liliana. The memories he created with them are treasures that will echo in their hearts forever.
He is survived by his mother, Lettie Mae Haynes (Kenneth), and his sisters: Valerie Missouri, Sheila Green (Thomas), Emma Cruise (Joe), and Lettie Lee (Howard). Jimmy was also a doting uncle to many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who cherished their time spent with him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ira West Jr., and his brother, Tyrone West, who remain in the hearts and memories of those who loved them.
