Jesse Osburn, affectionately known as ‘Babe” or “Matt”, was born in Montgomery County, Tennessee. He was the second child born to Jesse S. Osborne and Kerry L. Pace-Osburn. Jesse was baptized at an early age at New Hope Baptist Missionary Church in Clarksville, Tennessee. He received his education at Rossview Elementary School and Burt High School in Clarksville, Tennessee. Jesse later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he met his wife, Regina Rose Richardson. They had one daughter born while living in Indiana. Jesse worked for several years in Indianapolis at the old Mitchel and Scott Machine Co. and was a cook at the old Huddle restaurant. Soon after his marriage, he, his wife, and daughter moved to his wife's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. Jesse worked as a truck driver for the Salvation Army and he was also a mail handler and carrier for the U.S Postal Service. Jesse was also blessed with another daughter, Yolanda Osburn.
Jesse attended Mount Olive Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the church choir and faithfully drove the church van.
Jesse loved bowling, fishing at Scott St. Bridge, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He also loved to cook and barbecue. Some of his specialties were chicken and dressing, sweet potato pie and greens. Jesse also liked to travel, work on cars and always wanted to be a detective.
Jesse Osburn passed away on November 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jesse and Kelly Osburn; his sister, Willie Osburn, and brother, Walter E. Osburn.
Jesse is survived by his daughters, Orlantha and Yolanda Osburn of Des Moines, Iowa; his sister, Ella Woodard of Indianapolis, Indiana, and a brother, Robert L. Osburn of Louisville, Kentucky. He has a special “brother-cousin,” Everest Long; ex-wife, Regina Osburn; close friend, Viola Sandivang; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and many other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to name.
