Jerry Jefferson

Mr. Jerry Jefferson went home to be with the Lord on, Monday March 31st, 2025, Surrounded by his loving family. Please lift this family up in prayers not just today but in the days to come.

A visitation honoring Jerry will be held on April 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM. Friends, family, and all who were touched by Jerry’s kind spirit are welcome to join in celebrating a life well-lived.

Jerry Jefferson was born on December 6, 1939, to Chester and Alice (Adams) Jefferson in Des Moines Iowa. He was educated in the Des Moines Public School System. Jerry worked as a mechanic at Anderson-Erickson for 34 years. He retired in 1995.

 Jerry spent his leisure time bowling at Plaza Lanes until it burned to the ground in 2017. However he didn’t let that stop him; he drove to Pleasant Hill where he continued bowling at Great Escape. Jerry loved to cook, his favorite dish to cook was corn beef and cabbage. He was also a great storyteller. Jerry had a cultivated taste for music, finding inspiration and solace in the melodies of gospel artists like Rev. Ranch Allen, Kirk Franklin, and Lee Williams. He held a deep love for life.

Jerry was a member of the Mt Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Bobby Young. He served and was a faithful member of the usher board for over 10 years. He shared his warmth with all members and visitors. Jerry’s dedication to his community was evident in every smile and every friendly conversation he initiated.

 Jerry passed away on March 31, 2025. preceded Jerry in death were his parents, Chester and Alice Jefferson, son, Dewayne Jefferson, his sisters, Yvonne Jefferson and Jacquelyn Jefferson Addison.

 Jerry leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him dear in their hearts. He is survived by his devoted wife, Faye Jefferson; children, Daphne (Marvin) Taylor, Durell (Tiffany) Jefferson, Alex Carr, Kevin McCurn, Sonya Taylor, Gerone Jefferson; stepsons, Alexander Squire and Anthony Squire; brothers, Russell Jefferson, Darryl Jefferson and Raymond Jefferson; niece, Janine McCoy; and a legacy of love continues through his 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and joy. He will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his life. 

As we remember Jerry Jefferson, let us carry forward his legacy of love, generosity, and storytelling, ensuring that his vibrant spirit continues to shine in our hearts and in the stories we share.
