Jerald Cevin Brantley, Sr. of Des Moines, IA, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.
Jerald was born February 17, 1963 in Akron, OH to John C. Brantley, Sr. and Arminta L. Brantley. Jerald was honorably
discharged from the Army in 1984 at which point he began his life as a family man and entrepreneur. He assisted the
Des Moines community through his non-profit for over two decades, and served on multiple boards, panels,
leadership groups, and civic action organizations within the community.
He was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his wife, Rev. Tammy L. Harris-Brantley; mother; brothers, John Jr. (Lanell) and Jeff (Marlette) Brantley; sister, Ashley Brantley; children, Jerald Jr. (Holly)
Brantley, Nicole (Marc) Reed, and Jackson Brantley; grandchildren, Mary Brantley, Marc Reed Jr., and Carmen Reed; and
numerous other family members and friends.
He was a coach, mentor, The Boss, a dad, a brother, an entrepreneur, and a superhero. Jerald will be remembered for his
strength, his love for his family, and his contributions to the community.
