Jennifer Shade-Butts

Jennifer Shade-Butts went home to be with the lord Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Visitation will be held at Amazing Grace November 1st, 2024 at the hour of 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation starting at 12:00 P.M.

Jennifer Shade-Butts was born on June 4, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa to George and Margaret (Cheatom) Shade. She was educated through the Des Moines Public School System and graduated from Tech High School. Jennifer continued her education through Upper Iowa for a few years before having children. She married Alred Butts during the year 1985. Jennifer raised her children and went back to finish her studies. She received a bachelor’s degree through Upper Iowa University. Jennifer was a member of the Reconcilers Church in Des Moines, Iowa. She became a member of the ministry and became a reverend. Jennifer appreciated spending time with family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardening. Jennifer was very active as she was an avid bowler. She would go swimming and on walks during her pastime. Jennifer was fond of traveling. She loved to watch classic movies and love stories. Jennifer passed away on October 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Margaret; siblings, Ronnie Shade, Floyd Shade and Barbara Yonnie; grandchildren, Quai Horton and Keontae Horton. Those left to carry on Jennifer’s heart and spirit are her husband, Alfred Butts; children, Maurice Shade, Iesha Shade-Butts, Shailynn Butts; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, George (Marjorie) Shade Jr., Eugene Shade, Tim (Debbie) Shade, Raymond Shade, Rickie (Patricia) Shade, Vanessa Shade-Long, Vetta Shade and Marlene Shade; along with a host of extended family and friends.
