James Lewis Childs

James Lewis Childs was born on March 12, 1949 to Willie James and Julia Mae (Hamilton) Childs in Starkville, MS. James learned about the Lord at an early age and attended New Prairie Grove Baptist Church in Starkville. James attended Henderson High School where he graduated in 1967. He moved to Des Moines, IA as a young man and worked as a maintenance man for Drake University for 35 years. During that time he met the love of his life, Idell Bell. James was a hard working man, but in his down time he loved working on cars and listening to music, one of his favorite singing groups was Jr. Walker and the All-Stars. James also like to watch sports but most of all he loved to be around his family and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents; Willie James and Julia Mae Childs, daughter; Ashley Bell-Childs, brother Charles Childs, sisters; Zerlie Mae Golden, Barbara Anne Childs-Coffer and granddaughter; Aarie Jai Richardson. To cherish in his memories is his wife; Idell Bell-Childs, children Adrianne Bell- Childs, Frederick Bell-Childs, and Keisha Burton (Mexico, MO), sisters; Mary Childs, Wilma Clark (L.A.) of Starkville, MS, brothers; Billy Childs (Elaine) of Des Moines, IA, Vance Childs (Mosie) of Starkville, MS, brother in law; Donald Bell, uncle; Jimmie Rush of Atlanta, GA; aunts; Lois O'Neal (Walter) of Columbus, MS, Velma Childs of Chicago, IL, Billie Lovely and Trudy Madison of Starkville, MS, grandchildren; Aleaha Buresh, Alexis Jackson, Alicia Richardson, Areana Richardson, Ashlee Jackson, Creedance Spurgess, Christopher Buresh, Karma Bell, Deshawn Bell, Aleck Richardson , Alvin Richardson IV, Alyjah Jackson, Tyrae Robinson, and great grandson Tyran Locure.
