Jacob York was born August 25, 1941 in Liberia Wes t Africa to Yuwar and Blowehn York. He received his primary education in Liberia as well as advanced studies at the Tubman-Walton Institute. Jacob was a Dentist in Liberia before coming to the United States in 2006.
Jacob was married in 1967 to Nancy Gayee York. They are the parents of twelve children. Besides spending time with his children, Jacob loved reading, cooking and listening to radio. He was an expert storyteller. You could never tell whether the story was something Jacob remembered or something he made up for entertainment; he had a great imagination. Jacob loved to travel and loved watching sports, especially soccer. His favorite team was the Barrole's.
Jacob received Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was a member of Crossroad Christian Fellowship in West Des Moines.
Jacob recently lived at Fountain West Care facility. He was a favorite resident there. Jacob always had a smile on his face and was very caring about his neighbors. He was very generous and would help you with anything he could.
On November 18, 2014, Jacob answered the Master's call to rest. He was 73 years old. Preceding him in death wee his parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Left to cherish Jacobs memory are his wife, Nancy Gayee-York; his children, Thomas, Chea, Soah, Bartue, NynohZoue, Caroline, bobby, Nyonpouhi, Liblydeh, Bondeh, Grogweh and Conandenon; his sister Lucy Quaye, 22 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
