Ira Johnson

Ira Johnson passed away on September 28, 2020.

Ira Johnson Jr. was born to Ira Johnson Sr. and Mary Cain on January 22, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised and educated in the Chicago Public School system where he received his primary education. Later in life, he relocated to Des Moines, Iowa.

Ira always loved dancing! Whether you were around or not, he was always cutting a step. He also enjoyed playing softball and going bowling. He was a traveler. Ride or fly, wherever you were headed, Ira was down for a trip. If that trip happened to be in a Challenger, that would suit him just fine! And of course, Ira loved to fish and barbeque, but more than anything, he loved to spend time with his family (usually at the movies!) Sometimes hed just do things to make you laugh, but Ira always wanted folks to feel welcome and at ease.

Ira was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Alex J. Crawford, Jr.

Ira was an employee of Titan Tire and DZ Warehouse as a supervisor and forklift operator.

On September 28, 2020, Ira transitioned from time into eternity.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira, Sr. and Mary Johnson; siblings: Glenda, Calvin, Brenda, Jimmy, Mildred and Wanda.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Stacey (Tremaine) Walker, Richard Johnson, Naheem Johnson, Dallas (Chinna) Johnson, Ollie Johnson, Jaheem Johnson, DeShawn Johnson, Joslyn Tolson, Shalisa Gladney, and Shania Flemmings; grandchildren: Aaliyah, Taliah, DeVon, Amara, Elijah, Aviell; siblings: Jannie, Luethel, Larry, Jacqueline and Ivan (little man) Johnson; godchild, Taymere, along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.Visitation
