Ira Fredrick Hicks, Jr

Ira Frederick Hicks, Jr. was born December 3, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ira and Carmel (Turner) Hicks.

Ira attened Dowling High School and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Navy. He served honorably in Viet Nam prior to his discharge.

It was in the Navy that Ira developed his culinary skills and recieved a degree in Culinary Arts from DMACC prior to becoming disabled. He also worked as a Skycap at the Des Moines Airport.

Ira loved cooking, spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren) and travelling.

Ira is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Sabin Sr, Ira III, and Patrice; 6 grandchildren; his parents, Carmel Hicks and Ira Hicks, Sr., his siblings, Dobby, Elizabeth and Tina along with ahost of exteded family and friends.

Per Ira's request, he was cremated. Though he also requested no services be held, his family is planning a memorial service in August of this year.
