Helen Louise (Flynn) White was born August 26, 1925 to Willie and Naomi Morris Flynn in Des Moines, Iowa.
Helen attended the old North High School were she graduated. But Helen had a secret... she and Bob White had slipped away and gotten married while they were still youngsters. They loved and cared for each other until Bob passed away in 2008.
After high school Helen worked for many years at Broadlawns Hospital in the housekeeping department. She later took a job with the state of Iowa. After her retirement she kept she kept herself busy with bowling, playing cards, travelling, shopping and cooking. She made fried chicken and green beans for family gatherings and they were finger lickin' good. Helen also loved baseball. Helen loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She helped to raise her oldest grandson, Anthony, and made sure he had $2.00 in his pocket everyday before going to school.
On August 7, 2013, Helen heard the Master call her name. She answered his call at the age of 87. Waiting to welcome her were her husband, Bob; her son, Robert Jr, and her granddaughter, Collette Jackson.
Helen's memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, Norma (Troy) Kingston; her grandchildren, Anthony (Carla) Jackson, Bobbette (Edward) Wilkins, Robert (Gina) White III, Steve White, Sheryl Nathans and Stephanie White; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Diane Daniels; her special caregivers, Odessa Mackie and Sissy Law and a host nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 11 am from King of Kings Baptist Church. Church is located on SE 15th St between Maury and Scott.
