Hazel Marie Buster was born April 24, 1920 to John and Hannah (Larson) Olson at the family farm in Polk City, Iowa. She was the second daughter in the family of 7 children. Hazel received her primary education in the Ankeny School district where she graduated from Ankeny High School.
Hazel was a natural caregiver and nurturer. She loved raising her own family which she did with her husbands, Thomas Campbell, Walter Aunspach and Vaden Buster. Sadly they all preceded her in death.
Hazel enjoyed sewing. She was an expert quilt maker. She lovingly pieced them together and gave one to the children for weddings, birthdays and graduations. She was a great baker also. Her Snickerdoodles and caramel brownies were always in demand. Hazel was an avid reader and she loved to go "Exercise" at least once a week. She carried her famous pocketbook with her when she went. She was a founding member of the Saylorville Baptist Church. Hazel was a kind and generous person. You would never hear her say a mean thing about anyone.
On November 3rd, 2017, Hazel answered the Masters to rest. She was 97 years old. She was welcomed to the other side by her children, Edwin Campbell, Mark and Russell Aunspach, Duane Buster, Lorna Stephenson, Barb Williams and Betty Klootwyk; her brothers, George, Ralph, Clarence and Carl Olson; andher sister, Dorothy Fitch.
