Gordon Eric Wolder Jr. (Gordy) was born March 23, 1985 at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C.







From early on in life Gordy displayed a positive attitude for life that continued into his adult years. He had a big heart and enjoyed encouraging others and making his family and friends laugh. In his youth Gordy loved playing baseball and T-Ball, which was an activity he shared with his dad who would help coach his teams. Gordy also loved his cartoons. His favorites as a child were Thundercats, Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters.







Gordy attended school in the Des Moines Public School District. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 2003. This was a proud moment for Gordy, because in his sophomore year he was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma cancer and missed most of the school year. However, he continued to take classes and stay up on his studies during his year-long battle with cancer and was still able to graduate on time with his class in 2003. At Roosevelt he was active in the drama department and participated in several school plays. He attended Iowa State University on a Science Bound Scholarship and he also attended Des Moines Area Community College. Gordy worked for various companies during his life. Some of the companies Gordy worked for were: Qwest, Toys R Us, EDS, and most recently Securitas USA at the Principal Financial Group.







Gordy was an avid reader and would read for hours. He loved reading his Bible and the Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia books. His love for cartoons also continued into his adult life. Whenever his parents would come home and the T.V. was on the cartoon network, they knew that Gordy had been over to the house. Gordy had a passion for video games. He was an avid gamer and spent many hours with his brother and friends playing games. But it didn't stop there; Gordy also participated in the on-line video gaming circuit; which he was so good at, that he got an opportunity to travel and participate in various video game tournaments (while he was supposed to be in class at ISUJ).







In March 2011, Gordy met the love of his life, Kari Nolte. They fell in love almost instantly and were inseparable. With the reoccurrence of his cancer in January 2012, Kari was Gordy's rock and never left his side. They were married on Saturday, April 14, 2012, just minutes before the Lord called him home to be with Him. Gordy's last words were "I Do" which sealed their bond forever.







Gordy leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Kari Wolder and a stepdaughter, Laura Nolte of Urbandale IA; his parents, Gordon and Josephine Wolder of Urbandale, IA and John and Rafaella Reynolds of Deagu, South Korea; his siblings, LeMarius (Carlotta) Wolder of Des Moines, IA, Sigourney Wolder of Des Moines, IA, Chris Reynolds of Deagu, South Korea and a special cousin who was more like a brother, Ryan Morrison of Des Moines, IA; his grandparents, Gordon and DeLoris Wolder of Des Moines, IA and Oscar and Patricia Dominquez of The Woodlands, TX; a niece, Jai'ana Wolder of Des Moines, IA; a godson: Riley Morrison of Des Moines, IA and goddaughters, Nina Dawson of Des Moines, IA and Janaeya and Eliana Bloomquist of Creston, IA. Also left to cherish his memories are his aunts and uncles, his cousins as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. We loved you, but God loved you best. Well done thy good and faithful servant.
