Glen Leroy Holmes

Mr. Glen L. Holmes passed away November 24, 2021.

A Memorial Visitation is planned for Tuesday, November 30th from 12 noon to 2 pm at Henderson's Funeral Home with interment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Glen Leroy Holmes was born August 5th, 1935 to Glen and Mildred (Cooper) Holmes in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Glen completed his primary education and graduated from high school in Shenandoah before moving to California to be near his parents and eventually returning to Iowa.

Glen was employed by Dico Manufacturing for many years as a welder. After his retirement he preferred to spend most of his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed reading his bible and visiting family in California and Las Vegas. As a young person he enjoyed Sci-Fi. He was a big StarTrek fan. Glen was not a big sports fan but he went to all the games his son played. When Danny played softball, basketball or bowled he was in the stands, cheering him on. He liked going to the Senior Center in Park Fair and West Des Moines to socialize.

On November 24, 2021, Glen stepped from time into eternity when he answered the Masters call to rest. He was 86 years old. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his wife Nancy.

Glen leaves to cherish is memory, his children, Janet (Dennis) Weeks, Danny (Sherri) Holmes, Thomas Holmes and Timothy (Rose) Holmes; his siblings Clarke and Terry Eden; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
