George William Hill, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 17, 2018 at his home. Services are being planned for a later date.
George was born in Louisiana but migrated to Des Moines at an early age. He attended and graduated from North High School in Fort Dodge.
George found his way to Des Moines and quickly found a job. He had a great work ethic and kept himself busy. He detailed cars for his cousin (Marvin Jenkins), maintained a golf course and used his love of P-Funk music to land a job as one of the first black DJ's on KUBC 89.3. George liked playing California Rummy and Spades, traveling and helping single mom's with their children. He liked helping people with rides. He would take you anywhere in the hood for $10. He was mild mannered and very supportive. He drove motorcycles in his younger years and now loved listening to music and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
George is survived by his children, Sametta (Rakumba) E. Hill and Trivell Hill; his grandchildren, Tarey, X'Zarion and Qwalius Hill; Sameeta L Hill, Zakariyah, Limmud, Danielle and Mahalalel Hill and great grandson, Javion Tarey Hill. Family to do services at later date
