Gwendolyn "Kay" (Sloan) Ethell was born on July 12, 1937 in Mount Ayr, IA. Her family moved to the Des Moines area where she was educated in the Johnston School District and graduated from Johnston High School.
Shortly after graduation Kay would meet the love of her life, Raymond Ethell. At the tender age of 21, she accepted his hand in marriage and was joined in holy matrimony. The two were blessed with two children Ray Lee and Cindy Kay.
Kay lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and tending to her garden. Her excellent vision made her a skilled hunter and could shoot a penny on a stick at 50 yards. Kay also enjoyed the solitude of casting her line at a quiet place by the water waiting for the days catch. Even though Kay loved the great outdoors, her domestic talents could not go unnoticed. Her homemade cinnamon rolls and cakes were simply delightful. And her canned vegetables tasted like they were fresh off the vine.
On December 30, 2015 Kay was called to be with the Heavenly Father. She was reunited with her father and step mother, Kenneth and Dorothy Sloan and her grandparents.
Left to cherish Kay's memory is her husband, Ray; children, Ray Lee and Cindy Kay; grandchildren, Patric Binder, Daniel Binder, Tim Ethell, Katy Beth Ethell and Zach Ethell; great-grandchildren, Faith Ann, Joel and Abagail, one brother and a host of other relatives and friends.
