Fredrick Anderson Hurley

Fredrick Anderson Hurley was born December 19, 1968 in Carthage, Mississippi to John Fredrick and Emma Sue (Jackson) Hurley.

Fred attended and graduated from Provine High School in Jackson Mississippi. He furthered his education by attending Jackson State University where he majored in Biology and earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He also received his Masters degree in Business Administration from AIB. Fred also attended Harvard University's summer medical program and the University of Iowa.

Fred loved the Lord and accepted Him into his life at an early age. After moving to Des Moines in the early 1990's Fred united with Shiloh Baptist Church. He moved his membership to Maple Street Baptist where he was ordained as a Deacon. Just recently, Fred united with Eagle Vision Church.

"He that findeth a wife, findeth a good thing." Fred was at the mall and during a routine purchase, he found his soulmate. They were then introduced by mutual friends. Fred married the former Tammy and together they welcomed Jaken. Fred was a devoted husband and father. A good Christian man, Fred loved serving the Lord, going to church, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Fred thought he could barbeque, and he thought he could sing. We are not sure if that is true or a manifestation of his quirky sense of humor. Either way he was a quiet, kind, caring and truly nice guy. Fred loved his job and working with his team at Quest/Century Link. He was a member of the Black Telecommunications Association and Omega Psi Phi.

Fred fought the good fight and after several battles he won! The Lord called Fred's name and he answered on March 21, 2013. He was preceded in death by his grandmother.

Fred will be forever missed by his wife, Tammy Hurley; his son, Jaken Hurley; his parents, John Frederick Hurley and Emma Sue Hurley; his grandparents; his brothers, Gerald (Dana) Hurley, John (Porsche) Hurley, and Jason (Chastie) Hurley; his sister, Sharon (Travis) Martin; his nieces, Talyn, Pella, Treva, and Kaleb; his nephews, Tyler, Luca, Inzo, and Kennedy; his uncles, Rufus (Karen) Jackson, Wendall (Loretta) Jackson, Ollie Jackson, Melvin (Judy) Jackson, Henry (Emily) Hurley, Joe Hurley, and Andrew (Sally) Hurley; his aunts, Ruth Jackson, Mabel Jackson, and Lela Buchanan; along with a host of extended family and friends.
