Franklin K. Irvin Sr

Franklin Kenneth Irvin, Sr. was born on May 3, 1936 in Sioux City, Iowa to Dorothy Louise Irvin and Lloyd Buress. Franklin was educated in the Des Moines Public School System and was a graduate of North High School with athletic achievements and records that have yet to be broken.



After his retirement from John Deere, following many decades of service, he continued his love of bowling. In his later years he could often be found spending the afternoons playing dominos with his many friends at the Carpenter Senior Citizens Center.



On Tuesday, September 4, 2012, Franklin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Waiting for him on the other side were his parents and one grandson, Jeffery Vincent, Jr.



Franklin's legacy and memory will forever be cherished by his children, Kenneth, his son from his marriage to Marian Elaine Solomon Irvina"Terry (Terrie), Dennis (Kim), Franklin (Terri) Tony, Michael (Fran) and his chosen children, Ron (Jamie) Lewis, Teresa (Rod Bradley), Andrea Lewis and Sherri Irvin from his marriage to Barbara Jean Lewis Irvin; long-time companion and friend, Lavon Jackson and the Jackson Family as well as numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
