Obituary
Floriene Evelyn Edwards was born February 18, 1931 to Delbert and Janette (Brown) Wheels in Omaha, Nebraska. Floriene was educated in the Nebraska School District, where she graduated from Omaha Technical High School and furthered her education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Floriene was employed with Aetna Life and Casualty as a Bond Rep for 30 Years where she happily retired in 2002. Floriene was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she was the Financial Secretary, Deaconess and also a member of the Sisterhood, Usher Board and Mothers Board.
Floriene loved to do so much in her free time you couldn't keep up with her. She would work on word find puzzles, watch Family Feud and college football games.
She was a great cook. She had dozens of cookbooks and recipes. This expertise led her to open Flo’s Catering Service. One of her specialties was “better than sex“ cake which was a popular request. When she wasn't in the house cooking, she was outside doing yard work and taking care of her garden. When Mt. Olive had their annual shopping trip to Kansas City, Floriene was the first to sign up. No one could ever manage to beat her in bowling, cribbage, pinochle and pokeno. Floriene loved to get dressed up. Everything had to match.
It was never hard to see the giving caring side of Floriene. She had a generous heart and was always willing to help others. She was a firm disciplinarian, but it was all in love for you to become a better person.
Floriene Edwards passed away October 25, 2023. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Janette and Delbert Wheels; siblings, Delbert (Harley) Wheels, Jr, Robert (Vernon) Wheels, 1 grand child, 1 great grandchild and her faithful companion for 15 years, her dog Brutus. Those left to cherish Floriene in memory are her children: Daughter and caretaker Annette Duke, Son Adolphus (Ben) (Teena) Edwards, 18 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great Grandchildren.
