Evelyn Hinman

Evelyn (Phelan) Hinman was born on June 25, 1946 to William and Pamela (Lyons) Phelan, in Geneseo, IL. Her family relocated to Maxwell, IA, where she graduated from Maxwell High School in 1964. Evelyn continued her education at Northern Iowa Area Community College and Iowa State University where she earned a degree in Agronomy.



Evelyn chose to work in the banking industry for the majority of her career. She worked at Norwest Bank and United Federal Savings and Loan in various positions including that of a check processor. She also worked at ING insurance company for a short while.



Evelyn's bright, optimistic personality was evident in everything she did. She also had a work ethic that is matched by known. Evelyn worked tirelessly to improve the lives of others lobbying for women's rights and helping the homeless. In her free time, Evelyn enjoyed listening to gospel music and cooking. She also had unshakable faith and complained about anything. A professed believer in Christ the Savior, Evelyn was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church.



On October 25, 2016 Evelyn passed away peacefully in her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Pamela Phelan and sisters, Anne Carroll and Carol Birchmier.



Left to cherish Evelyn's memory are her children, Paul (Lisa) Sims, Erick (Kristine) Sims, Aaron Hudson, Allen (Sarah) Hinman and Carroll Hinman; grandchildren, Daniel, Megan, Angel, Evelyn, Teagan, Laylah, Cora, Amelia, Dylan, Aaden, Rocco, Reece and Joseph and a host of other relatives and friends.
