Eva Ruth Tindrell

Eva Ruth Tindrell was born July 27, 1932 in Perry, Iowa to Opal Lee (Weaver) and Everett A. Tindrell. She was educated in the Perry School District and graduated from Perry High School.

Eva gave her life to Christ at an early age. Her family was very active at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Des Moines. When Eva moved to Kansas City she united with Life Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.

Eva was very creative; she loved to crochet and decorated for all the pastor's anniversaries. She made jewelry and loved playing board games, especially Uno. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling stories. Her descriptions made the stories come to life.(You've heard the story about when she closed her hand in the door and was locked out?) In the quiet times, Eva loved to sit on the bank of a pond or river and fish. She had a generous spirit and giving heart but didn't stand for foolishness. She loved children and they loved her back. She was always a caregiver which led to her employment choices. She was a foster grandparent for may years; she worked at Woodward State Hospital; drove a school bus and was a CNA at Kansas City's Children's Mercy Hospital for over 17 years.

On March 9, 2014, Jesus whispered Eva's name and she answered Him. She was 81 years old. Waiting to welcome her to the other side were her parents, two brothers, four sisters, two step sons and a step granddaughter.

Left to cherish Eva's memory are her children, William 'Eddie' Dowell, Melva, Gloria , Glenda, Harold, Hazel, Gary, Wendell and John Pinks, Jr.; her sister, Luanne Turner; a brother, William Smith; one grandson, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
