Eunice Mae Adair

Eunice Mae (Pigues) Adair was born July 12,1937 in Eureka, Mississippi to Edward Patton and Bertha Mae (Pigues) before being raised by her mother and step father, Albert Young.

Eunice completed her primary education and graduated from Batesville High School in Batesville, Mississippi. Along the way she fell in love and married Charlie Lee Adair. The young couple started a family and would eventually welcome eight children to their union. Eunice did factory work while she provided for her family. She and her family moved to Des Moines over forty years ago.

Eunice confessed a hope in a risen Savior at an early age. She was baptized at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Batesville. After moving to Des Moines, she joined Mt. Hebron Baptist Church. Eunice was active as a choir mother for the young peoples choir, she sang in the choir and drove the church van for outings. She also submitted spiritual guidance through writings that were read in Sunday services. In her spare time she loved to read, garden, fish and work puzzles. Oh and she could really bake a pineapple cake or banana pudding! She loved her children, but didn't tolerate nonsense. She was the same way with the grand and great grandchildren.

Eunice fought the good fight and finished her course on February 15, 2016. Preceding her in death were her husband, Charlie Adair; her daughter, Patricia Butts; her parents, Albert and Bertha; her siblings, Albert Young, Willie Ray and Todd Patton, Maxine Robinson, Vivian Byrd, Seretha Daggs and Emma Henderson; her grandson, Rashad Adair and son-in-law, Thomas Hardin.

Left to mourn Eunice's passing are her children, David (Rena) Adair, Jessie Hardin, Jerry (Melinda) Adair, Barbara (Mark) Adair, Barry (Monica) Adair, Karan (Willie) Quinn, Robert (Valerie) Tucker and Lonnie (Thomasina) Adair; son-in-law, Nate Butts; siblings, Andrew, S. L., Ray and Anthony Patton, Edna (Robert) Richardson, Rev. Bobby (Eva), Rev. Billy (Vera), Larry (Shirley) and Harry (Carrie) Young, Ella (M.J.) Carr, Dorothy (Bobby) Holmes, Charles Watson and Janice (Tony) Walls, her god daughter, Cassey Smith Spencer, 42 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
