Ella Wee Walker

January 12, 1936 — October 28, 2016

Ella Wee Walker

Ella Wee Walker was born on January 12, 1936 to John and Ella Walker, in Sardis, MS. Later on in life she relocated to Des Moines, IA where she was a devoted citizen for 54 years.

Ella was a devoted stay-at-home mother that not only cared for her own children but the others as well. She was a firm believer that it takes village to raise a child and took pride in doing her part.

Ella earned her Associates of Arts Degree from Des Moines Area Community College and began her 30 year career working for The Principal Group. She also worked diligently as civic servant as a member of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) and as a member of President Jimmy Carter's campaign. At a young age, Ella professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Corinthian Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board.

On Octorber 28, 2016 Ella was called from her labors. There is not doubt that she was greeted with those welcome words "Well done thy good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord." She was reunited on the other side with her parents and all but one sibling.

Left to cherish Ella's memory are her children, Darry & Willie Bailey, Doris Bailey Chapman, Ella Bailey, Patricia Colemon (nee Talton, Bailey), Yolanda, Fritzie, Chrissy and Tony (Crystal) Bailey; her only living sibling, Effie Marie Walker; her extended family, Natasha, Richard, Michael and Charles Walker, Ethel Thomas and Rushelle Winston along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren other relatives and many friends.
