Edgar Charles Edwards was born October 2, 1950 in Louisville, Mississippi. Edgar was educated in the Louisville public school system. After graduation, Edgar struck out to see the world and make a place for himself.
After a brief time in Davenport, Iowa, Edgar settled in Des Moines and found employment at Eagle Iron Works. Edgar worked as an iron worker for over 20 years before he retired.
On August 13, 1988, Edgar married the love of his life. Ms Minnie Ollie became his wife and mother to his children, Charles, Justin and LaTonya. Edgar loved spending time with his family, but his grandchildren were his world. They spent a lot of time playing games on the Wii, laughing, playing and watching TV. Edgar also liked fishing, dominoes, hunting and playing spades. If there was a big sporting event on TV you could bet Edgar had a front row seat.
Edgar gave his life to the Lord as a young man. He attended services at Mission Temple COGIC when ever he had a chance.
May 25, 2015 was a glorious day! Edgar went to meet Jesus that day. Waiting on the other side to meet him were Edgars parents, Willie and Effie Edwards; his brothers in law Percy Jackson and Vanzie Jackson.
Left to cherish the good times they had with Edgar are his wife, Minnie; his children, Charles (Jessica), Justin (Michelle) and LaATonya Edwards; his grandchildren, LuSarah, Johnathan, Asacia, Xavier, Darius, Amari, Day'Shawn, JayVion, Zay' Marion, and Tray'Aarion Edwards; his brothers, Willie D (Alva) and Dennis and Derik Edwards; his sisters, Essie Jackson, Belinda (Joe) Burns, Janice Jackson Velma (Hermon) Haynes, Dollie (Jimmy) Keys and Glenda (Perry) Hickman.
