E. Nathaniel Quinn

Edward Nathaniel Quinn was born March 22, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa to Hershel Quinn and Grace Mae (Taylor) Quinn. Nate attended Dunlap Elementary School, Amos Hiatt Middle School, and then graduated from Des Moines Tech High School. He could run like a rabbit and was on a record breaking track team. On the baseball field he excelled among the best. He played all positions, but shortstop was his favorite. He made the All Star team every year, all the way to the senior league. He was also a great football player as a running back. While at Tech High he wrestled and was very good at it. He also wrestled for Davenport Central High School and lettered at both schools. While living in Davenport, Nate worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber. He also ran an auto detail shop with his father. They had a successful lawn care and commercial cleaning business. And if that wasnt enough to do , they ran a laundrymat too. Nate was very spiritual. He took pride in knowing his bible, inside and out. He loved astrology and could find and name all the constellations in the sky. He loved watching sports and westerns on television. And you all know he was a clean freak, always washing and straightening. He was very stubborn too. Once he had his mind made up there was no changing it. Nate passed away on July 10, 2018. He was 70 years old. Preceding him in death were his parents, Hershel and Grace Quinn; his brothers, Hershel Thomas, Walter A. Quinn, Raydell M. Quinn, William Quinn Sr and sisters, Mary Frances Devan, Joan Quinn, Dora Mae Quin and infant twin siblings. Left behind are his companion Lishala Patterson; children, Natalie Quinn, Edward (Jennifer) Shorter, Montreal (Jelena) Shorter, Kandella (Cody) Purvis, Naji Shorter, Raymond Shorter and Keona (Kiyaun) Thompson; brothers and sisters, John (Bettie) Quinn, Allene Meadors, Patty Jo Wells and Zella (Robert) Williams; nephew, William Quinn Jr and Edward Nathaniel, sister in law, Shirley Quinn along with a host of extended family and friends.
