Dwight O'Neal Mosby was born September 5, 1942 in Maple Hills, Kansas to Mexell O. Mosby and Lila L. (Beard) Mosby. He was an only child who was especially close to his mother.
Dwight was educated in Maple Hills where he graduated from Maple Hills High School in 1960. After high school he entered into the United States Navy until 1963.
Dwight lived in various small towns in Kansas but eventually settled in Des Moines, Iowa where he lived for over 45 years. He had one daughter Trena who was the light of his life. Trena gave him two beautiful grandchildren that he was devoted to.
Dwight was a long time Food and Safety Inspector for the Untied States Department of Agriculture where he retired from in 1989.
Dwight was an avid bible reader and attended Cornerstone Family Church. He loved fishing, grilling, watching racing, Olympics, and football. His favorite team was the Kansas City Chiefs. He was very social and friendly to everyone. On most days, he sat outside of his apartment on a bench and said hello to everyone. He even knew every dogs name that passed by.
Dwight passed away May 18, 2013. He is preceded in death by his father, Mexell O. Mosby who died in 1974; and his mother, Lila L. Mosby who died in 2005.
Dwight will be greatly missed by his daughter, Trena Rogers; his grandchildren, Naujwa and Tyree Porter; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends that loved him dearly.
Military honors will take place the last 15 minutes of the visitation.
