Dorothy Ann Van Pelt

Dorothy Ann (Todden) Van Pelt was born April 1, 1929 in Clarke county, Iowa to William and Phoebe Hill Todden.



Dorothy graduated from Osceola High School and after a brief stint working in a factory as a munitions assembler, Dorothy settled into married life with John Van Pelt.



Dorothy loved being a homemaker. She and John were blessed with a daughter, Sandra. Dorothy was a tender hearted person who loved taking care of people. She also took in and fed all the stray animals she could find. She loved wildlife and traveling. Eventually she and John became "snowbirds" commuting between Des Moines and Orlando, Florida. Dorothy was an excellent cook, also. Her fried chicken was the best in town. She loved singing at church and reading her Bible.



January 2, 2014, Dorothy answered the Master's call to rest. She was 84 years old. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, William and Phoebe Todden and her brother, Alfred Todden.



Left to cherish Dorothy's memory are her husband of 59 years, John Van Pelt; her daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Frazier; her sister, Darlene Todden and her brother, Rev. Richard Todden, several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
