Doris Lorraine Mielak was born on July 21, 1948 to Clifford and Mildred (Hahn) Mielak, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The family would eventually settle in Grinnell, Iowa, to raise their family and where she would receive her education. Later in life, Doris would meet her partner, Richard L. Williams. Together, they would make their home in Des Moines, Iowa. She was an employee of the plasma center for 16 years, also serving as an aid to those at the Des Moines Veterans Hospital for a few years. She would later retire in 2000 from Mercy Medical Center.
Doris loved music and cooking. The family fondly remembers her sweet potato pie and her praline french toast, which was always a favorite in the house. And even though it boasted a two-day prep time, it was well worth the wait. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and her cat, brother Bob, as well as antiquing and going shopping.
Left to cherish her memory is her partner in life: Richard Williams, daughter: Danielle Davis, siblings: Joan Sutton, Vicki Nail, Cindy Mielak, Greg Mielak, grandchildren: Madison Patton, Samantha Rush, Antonio Mielak, Preston Davis III, Maxwell Burrell, great-granchild: Peyton-Rose Davis, brother-in-law: Merrill Smith and a host of family and friends.
In heaven, Doris rejoins her parents: Clifford and Mildred Mielak and her son: James Patton. Memorial Service
