Donald Lee Cheatom

Donald Lee Cheatom, Sr. was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Arlee and Elizabeth (Gelbreath) Cheatom February 12, 1937. He was educated in the Des Moines Public School System. After graduating his enlisted in the Air Force.

Donald spent most of his career as a custodian and auto body detailer. He liked to fish, hunt and was a good cook. Donald was quiet and a no nonsense person. He took life very seriously. Due to the way he lived his life, his circle of friends was limited. Donald enjoyed traveling and loved his children. He was a man of faith and a member of Greater Life Baptist Church under the leadership of his brother, Pastor Leslie Buchanan, Jr.

Donald Lee Cheatom, Sr. passed away May 15, 2022. Preceding him in death were his wife, Alma Cheatom; parents, Arlee and Elizabeth Buchanan; stepfather, Leslie Buchanan Sr.; sons, Terry Cheatom, and Donald Cheatom, Jr; stepson, Gregory Fields; brothers, Benjamin, Ronald and James Buchanan; niece, Adrian Buchanan; sister, Valetta and grandson, Earl Lawson, Jr.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory his children, Dino Cheatom, Elizabeth (Andre) Robinson, George Miller, Zina Cheatom Gates; siblings, Lillian Austin, Pastor Leslie (Martha) Buchanan Jr.; LeArtis Buchanan, Loretta Gates and Harmon Buchanan Jr., a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a small circle of friends.Viewing
