Dekoven Cropp Jr

DeKoven Cropp, Jr was born August 20, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa to DeKoven 'Doc' Cropp and Anna Mae Cropp. He was the eldest of four boys. Most people called him by his last name, but family called him 'Junior'.

DeKoven was educated in the Des Moines Public School system where he graduated from North High School. He obtained employment as a Maintenance Engineer for the Homes of Oakridge, and retired from there after 28 years of service. He lived with his wife and companion, Charlean Nelson Cropp.

Cropp loved cooking. He often sold his Guinea Grinders during the Drake Relays. He also thought he was the BBQ king! He was an avid fisherman and had plenty of stories about 'the one that got away'. Cropp loved spending time socializing and entertaining family and friends; he was a die hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. In his younger days, Cropp was a wonder on a pair of roller skates. He could dance all over the Terrace Roller Rink. He was also a devoted son, who helped to care for his mother.

On Monday, September 28, 2015 DeKoven Cropp, Jr. was called home after his battle with liver cancer. He was 69. DeKoven is survived by his wife and long time companion, Charlean Nelson Cropp; his mother, Anna Mae Cropp; children, Carla, Jolene, DeVonda and Derrizette Cropp, Amanda (Tim) Holifield and step daughter, Linda Bryant; brothers, Virgil, Darrell and Barry Cropp 11 grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
