DeArnold Keyes was born May 28, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Milton Keyes, Sr. and Lillie Mae (Smith) Keyes. DeArnold was educated in the Des Moines Public school system where he graduated from North High School. While at North he was on the football team, and played well.
After high school DeArnold found employment as a landscaper. He overcame great challenges and often talked about how he made it through those challenges and was a better and stronger person because of them.
DeArnold loved to entertain friends and family. He would put some food on the grill or his favorite Green Bay Packers on the TV, and regale the family with stories. “De” was the life of the party. He was funny, but direct and didnt meet strangers.
As a youngster he attended Union Baptist Church and gave his life to the Lord. He never forgot those lessons.
DeArnold passed away October 12, 2021 at his residence. He was 61 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie and sister Angela Keyes.
De leaves to cherish his memory, his father, Milton Keyes, Sr; his brothers, Milton (Grace) Keyes, Jr. and Byron Keyes; his nieces and nephews, Jason (Tyan) Keyes Ballard, Sharda Ballard, Taylor Ballard, Julian, Zaire, Antonio, Terry and Demarcus Keyes, Nadia and Niema Morrow and a host of extended family and friends.
