Lloyd Austin Rose was born on March 4, 1946 to Percival and Elaine (Scott) Rose, in Bush Lot Guyana, South America. He emigrated to the United States in 1968, after graduation from Ridgeway High School and enlisted in the United States Army. Lloyd served during the Viet Nam era and was stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge from service he settled in New York and began to make a life for himself.
Lloyd knew education was very important to his advancement in life. He attended S.U.N.Y., where he attained a Bachelor of Science Degree. He furthered his education by completing course work towards a Masters Degree at John Jay College and Dowling College, both in New York. His love for learning led him to the teaching profession. He left teaching for various positions in insurance and banking. Met Life, Bankers Life and Exxon Mobil were all stepping stones to the Vice President's chair at Dime /Union Savings Bank.
'He that findeth a wife finds a good thing.' A pretty lady from Jamaica caught Lloyd's eye and he married her former Candasie Lawrence at 1st Baptist Church in July 1978. Together they would raise six boys. Lloyd also began his training as a Deacon while at 1st Baptist. When the family relocated to Des Moines, IA in 2005. Lloyd commuted back and forth to New York to complete his training and become ordained. Once ordained, Lloyd and his family joined Corinthian Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his passing. Lloyd was also a member of the Gideon Society, helping to place Bibles all over the world.
Deacon Rose was called from labor to reward on September 19, 2015. He was welcomed on the other side by his parents; siblings, Daniel Rose, Samuel Rose, Ester Lucky, Inez Murray and Rachel Archer.
Left to cherish Lloyd's memory is his loving wife, Candasie; sons, Mark (Nathalie), Corey, Nicholas (Leonora), Michael, Daniel and James (Jaqueline); grandchildren, Korvonne, Jeremiah,
Mark-Julian, Nadege, Nicholas and Deucalion; siblings, Carl, Johannah DeFlorimonte, Milliscent (Charles) Agard, Grace (Ralph) Benjamin, Patricia (Savitree) Philemon, Velma (Joe) Williams, David (Alexis) Rose, Ruth, Naomi and Priscilla (Frank) Hunter and a host of other relatives and friends.
