Deacon Leon Bradley, age 72 passed away June 9th, 2024 surrounding by his family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. His funeral service will immediately follow and begin at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Bobby Young officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Leon Bradley was born in Centerville, Alabama on March 5, 1952 to Abraham and Lilliebell (Murphy) Bradley. He and his family relocated to Des Moines, Iowa where he continued his education and graduated from Tech High School.
Leon detailed cars for many years. He later found employment with Hy-Vee in the Floral Department as a delivery driver.
Leon was a faithful member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Bobby Young. He was ordained as a deacon on April 28, 2011. Leon loved him some Jesus and church; you could always find him praying or singing during morning service. He was known as “Shouting John.” Leon could be described as debonair, in his stylish clothing, from his tie to his socks and shoes. He was charming, kind and very caring about people. Leon loved children and enjoyed fishing and sharing whatever he caught with others.
Leon went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2024. Preceded in death was his parents, siblings, Allen Spencer, Pearl Cooper, Betty Fountain, Birdie Drake and Lucille Williams; nephew, James Edward Bradley.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Karen Bradley; children, Leon Malone. Summer Lee Rhiner; step-daughter, Shonice Johnson; siblings, Abraham (Maple) Bradley, James (Sarah) Bradley, David Bradley and Classis (Louis) Kenny and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
