Howell Henry Dameron was born September 7, 1949 in Des Moines, IA to Howell Samuel Dameron and Ollie Mae (Fleetwood) Dameron. Henry graduated from Lincoln High School in North Kansas City, MO and enlisted in the United States Army. He saw action in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged back to the States as a disabled Vet.
Henry still worked for several companies; he was a janitor, a bingo caller at the Mesquaki Casino, and most recently a driver and delivery person for HyVee. It was true - he had a friendly smile. Henry loved sports especially football, which he played in high school. He loved to dance and cook his favorite desert (banana pudding), and he loved to travel. He played cribbage at the Senior Center and had a standing date on Tuesday at the movies where he loved eating popcorn. And Henry always sang! He sang in several men's groups and the Morningstar choir. He just kept busy. Henry was kept busy helping to raise many step children, nieces, nephews and young people in general. He was a stern but loving influence in their lives. He was non-judgmental and offered good advice. He was "old school cool" as a very sharp dresser and gentleman. He loved his church and pastor and served as a Deacon for many years. Henry was also active in North Star Lodge #2, PHA.
Henry was a fighter! He won his last fight and went home to claim his reward on June 10, 2014. He was 64 years old. Waiting to welcome him were his son, DeMarcus Dameron; his parents, Howell and Ollie Mae; and brother, Clarence.
Henry will be missed by his companion, Linda Stanley; his daughter, Andrea Black Cloud; his grandchildren, Monisha Black Cloud, Anisha Hart, Shelynn McKern Blisset and great granddaughters, Shean and Seanie Sinclain. Henry's memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Donna Watson Blunt (Duane), Tresa Davis Talton, Lottie Dixon (Rev. Robert), Cathy Reed (Gary), Sandra Robinson, Charles Dameron, Gary (Rhonda) Dameron, John (Karen) Dameron; his uncle Ervin Dameron and sister in law, Jenny Dameron, god daughter, Terionna Smith, along with a host of nieces, nephews other extended family and many, many friends and acquaintances.
