Dawn Brown was born on September 30, 1968 to Norman Morris and Francis Brown in Des Moines, IA. She attended school in the Des Moines Public School System and went on to earn a General Equivalency Diploma. Dawn continued her education at Des Moines Area Community College Boone Campus.
Dawn developed a heart to help others at a young age. As an adult, helping those in need became her life long mission. Dawn was known for helping homeless individuals and families get off the streets. Dawn also enjoyed listening to gospel and soul music. Her favorite artists were Yolanda Adams and Whitney Houston. Above all, Dawn loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dawn passed away on February 26, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Lynn Brown; father, Norman Morris and daughter, LaTrease Denise Porte.
Left to cherish Dawns memory are her sons, Michael Ray Anthony Brown, Mareo Brown, Elvis Porte and Erickson Justin Porte; daughters, LaSha Renee (Andre) Ansah, LaTasha Ruby Porte and LaLeah Hayes; siblings, Ray Lee, Michael Ray Anthony Lee, Stanley Brown, Raenette Jones, Mary (Anthony) Wells, Tina Brown and Sophia Morris; uncle Harold Lee and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home in Dawn's memory.
