David Raymond Turner was born September 15, 1955 to Alma A. Hickman and Wilbur Dean Turner, Sr. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

David attended and graduated from Kennedy High School before going to college in Chicago to study driving truck. He then entered the trucking industry working for Capital Sanitary Supply. David loved to travel, so the transportation industry was perfect for him.

David married the love of his life, Marla Duff, on April 12, 1987. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Cindy and Kelly.

David was a member of Greater Life Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Leslie Buchanan, Jr.

David had many hobbies and joys in life. He enjoyed working on cars, camping, traveling 49 states, doing anything outdoors, and even tried singing Country, Rock, and Gospel music. He was full of knowledge and wisdom and was a Jack of all trades. More than anything David loved spending time with his family. You could always see him playing with his grandbabies or “talking smart”, playing cards with his wife and children.

David went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma A. (Hickman) and Wilbur Dean Turner, Sr.; brother, Russ Turner; and several aunts, uncles, and grandchildren.

David is survived by his loving wife, Marla Turner; daughters: Cindy (Darcy) and Kelly (DeAngelo); siblings: Julie Kramer, Michael Turner, and Wilbur (Brenda) Turner, Jr.; grandchildren: Jahron, DAnte, Allazae, Dondr, Ahyinneay “AJ,” and Denashiah, Diero Buchanan, Shamir Buchanan, Shioka Buchanan, Darcy Buchanan, Jr., Paris Coleman-Jones, Paradice Coleman-Jones and SeVone Coleman-Jones; pets, Shaggy and Cuddles the cat; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.Celebration of Life
