Daryl S Jones Sr

Daryl Stephen Jones was born on April 9, 1949 to Booker and Blossom (Taylor) Jones in Des Moines, IA. He was educated in the Des Moines Public School District and graduated from North High School.

He was blessed with five children: Urshula, Doug, Montez, Daryl Jr. and Nicholas. He will be remembered as an easy going Dad who was always willing to talk to you about life's lessons.

Mr. Jones worked in numerous careers and positions during his lifetime. He retired from the Des Moines Public Schools after 25 years of service, where he worked as a building technician.

During Daryl Sr.'s leisure time, he lived life to the fullest. He was an avid bowler with the Roadrunners Bowling Club. A member of the "300 Club", his bowling talents earned him a spot on the "Let's go Bowling" show. He found solace in fishing and listening to music. He never missed his weekly trip to Best Buy to purchase the newest R&B and gospel releases. Mr. Jones will also be remembered for his skill behind the grill, especially his chicken wings.

Daryl Sr. transitioned from time into eternity on August 2, 2015. He was greeted on the other side by his a daughter, Darylynn, parents, Booker and Blossom; and a sister, Sherri Jones Burrell.

Left to cherish Mr. Jones's memory are his children, Urshula Patterson, Doug Jones, Montez Anderson, Daryl Jr. and Nicholas (Shia) Jones; a host of grandchildren; his faithful companion, Popi and a host of other relatives and friends.
