Darlene Maxine Sayles

Darlene Maxine Sayles made her entrance to this world on January 1, 1934. She was nurtured by her sweet mother, the late Gladys Crosswright-Toler in Atchison, Kansas.

Darlene completed her general studies at Atchison High School. On August 5, 1950, Darlene was united in holy matrimony to the late Deacon Glen Sayles. She and Deacon Sayles were great foster parents for a number of children. Glenale was a great permanent addition to their family. She was soft spoken, but you knew youd done it when she said, "Just wait till we get home." Darlene attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William Heath. Darlene was highly involved at Shiloh where she served on the Mothers Board, Young Matrons Ministry and also in the choir. She and her husband were pillars of the church community! .

As the years went on the Lord led Darlene to the membership of the King of Kings Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jordan P. Rabon. She would always enjoy listening to the great teachings of Pastor Rabon. She served on the Mothers board until her passing. For a number of years she was a secretary at Lutheran. On top of that she was the teachers assistant at Smouse Elementary School. Darlene enjoyed sewing, fishing, garage sales, gardening, traveling, and attending church. Baking sugar cookies was her specialty. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; parents: Maragaret Pinnington; and siblings: Rosie Norman, Frankie Miles and Helen Lindsey. Darlene is survived by her two sisters: Cozetta Levell, Ernestine Benson; daughter: Glenale Sayles; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren and host of extended family members and many friends.
