Cozetta Levell, 92, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Please keep her family in your prayers during this difficult time.
Cozetta L. Levell was born on March 10, 1932, in Atchison, Kansas to Oscar and Gladys Crosswright (Toler). She graduated from Atchison High School in Kansas. Cozetta furthered her educational career in nursing and worked at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. She married the late Donald Richard Levell Sr., and there were blessed with four children, Donald Richard Jr., David Eugene, Crystal Renee and Terra Lynn. Cozetta was a homemaker and managed the household while raising her children. She was known to be a strict mother and not to be played with. Cozetta commanded her respect, but in a good way.
Cozetta was a real cook as she could make anything out of nothing! Her specialites were fish and fried chicken. Cozetta loved family gatherings, and she certainly was a homebody. She loved listening to Wilson Pickett, old school R&B music, along with the Blues. Cozetta loved to go to garage sales, and whenever she saw something, she wanted to take home, she would say, "Donald can fix it!"
Cozetta Levell passed away on February 28, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Donald R. Levell Sr., oldest son, Donald Richard Levell Jr.; grandchildren, Jameel Richardson and Antione (Tony) Levell; parents, Oscar and Gladys Crosswright (Toler: and six sisters, Margaret Pennington, Frances Miles, Rose Norman, Helen Lindsay, Ernestine Benson and Darlene Sayles.
Those left to cherish her in loving memory are her children, David Eugene, Crystal Renee and Terra Lynn; grandchildren, Bobbi, Ashley, Jordan, Anessa, Kaila and Cameron; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kennedy, Allure, Ezra and Alexander; along with a host of many nieces and nephews.
