Corine Octavia Jeter

Corine Octavia (Watson) Jeter was born January 27, 1942 in Sardis, Mississippi to Robert Watson, Sr and Elizabeth Thompson Watson. She was educated in the Sardis public school system and graduated from Greenhill High School.

Corine relocated to Des Moines as a young woman and married Carl Jeter, Jr. They raised two daughters together; Regina and Marhonda.

Corine was baptized at an early age and attended church faithfully. She was a member of Forest Avenue Gospel Temple C.O.G.I.C. until the church moved. She then became a member of Heavenly Temple C.O.G.I.C. and finally, East 17th Street Church of God in Christ where she served as a Church Mother and Pastor's Aide President for many years. She was one of the Prayer Warriors and loved conducting Praise and Worship prior to services. Mother Jeter was an excellent cook and used her skills to feed family and friends alike. She was famous for her fried chicken. She was an in home daycare provider and even fed the parents of the children she kept. Mother loved helping to raise her daycare children and they all called her "Grandma Jeter".

November 22, 2015, Jesus whispered her name and Corine answered the Master's call. She was 73 years old. Preceding her in death were her husband, Carl Jeter, Jr; her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Watson; a brother, Terry Watson, Sr. and a great granddaughter, Ariona.

Mother Jeter leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Regina (Tim) Booker and Marhonda (Pastor Gerald) Hill; her grandchildren, Tanisha, Thondra, Chloe, Latisha, Deaonda, Charolae, Janae, Janelle, Jayden and Gerald (JaRhon); nine great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; her siblings, Loisteen (Archie) Ballentine, Sarah (Henry) Bush, Robert Watson, Jr., Lucy, James, Mary, Melvin, Florence, Willie and Darnell Watson, Sr., Eunice (Jerry) Jefferson and Alexis Watson, along with a host of extended family, church family and friends.
