Chatauqua Young passed away on September 10, 2019. A public visitation was held on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Chatauqua Shemeeka Young was born July 6, 1981 to Pius Kooh and Brenda Jean Young.
Chatauqua attended Hoover and later Roosevelt High schools. She managed to graduate even though her sickle cell disease kept her in and out of the hospital.
Chatauqua never let the illness keep her down. She lived life to the fullest. She was a great cook and her lasagna and jambalaya was the best around. Even though she was a good cook, she loved eating other peoples cooking. Chatauqua was a loving and caring person. She tried to help anyone that needed help. She had a smile that would light up the room. And we all know CHATAUQUA LOVED SHOES! She never met a pair of shoes she didnt like. She had over a hundred pairs.
Chatauqua won her battle and went home to rest on September 10, 2019. She was 38 years old. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Helina Udoh and cousin, Serita Temple-Cortez.
Chatauqua is survived by her son, Demariah Johnson; parents, Pius Udoh and Brenda Young; her siblings, Chaqriena Robinson, Alicia Seurey, Makeysha Rutto, Dorothy Kemboi, Darwin Young, Jr., Paulette Harvey and Stephanie Harvey, best friends Jennifer Smith and Karmel Holt; aunts, Linda and Yalonada Young and grandmother, Dorothy Anna Carter and a host of extended family and friends.
