Charlie "Chuck" Albert Taylor, Jr. was born December 23, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama to Charlie Taylor, Sr. and Alberta (Davis ) Taylor. Charlie received his primary school education in Birmingham before the family relocated to Des Moines.
Before graduation, Charlie enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. After his return from the service, Charlie worked for several large companies. He was a computer engineer for John Deere, the U. S. Postal Service and Ford Motor Company.
Charlie was a people person. He was a big jokester and a great story teller, finding humor in all life had to offer. He was a reader and loved all kinds of music, but especially blues and country music. Charlie was an AVID golfer. There was nothing better than hitting the links on a summer's day - unless it was fooling with the grandkids. Charlie loved his grandkids beyond measure because family came first. He would do anything for his children, too.
Charlie gave his life to the Lord and was the oldest member of Elim. He loved attending services. He wasn't a singer, but he tried anyway.
June 30, 2015, Charlie answered the Master's call to rest. He was 83 years old. Waiting to welcome Charlie home were his parents Charlie and Alberta; his sisters, Henrietta Taylor McKee, Catherine Johnson, Charlie Jones and Deenie Taylor.
Charlie leaves fond memories with his children, Verlee Taylor, Charlie Taylor III, Vonda Newton, Terri Woods, Dorothy Bolden Taylor, William Taylor, Taylor Jewett Taylor and Donna Jewett Taylor ; grandchildren, Julia Mitchell, Chareese Taylor, Christopher Lewis, Darnell Taylor, VaShera Weber, Toy A Johnson, TyChec Brown, ToCarrious Stone, Jamilla, Kimberly and Zachary Taylor, Stephan and LaShara Buckner, Aaron Coleman, Aaliyah and Andr Buckner, Creouna Reed, Aubreona Wilson and his Road dog, Jashaun; 26 great grand kids, also his nephews, Izmaud Rakiem and Edward "Mickie" Taylor and his special friend and caretaker, Stephanie Jewett.
