Charles 'Chuck' James Maples, 74, passed away January 7, 2017 was born on March 19, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa at to Anna (Riddle) and James Maples.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and he served on the USS Cunningham. He also attended Open Bible College. Worked most of his life in the trucking industry. Spent many years involved in little league baseball including Highland Park Little League.
He enjoyed coaching, umpiring and being on the board including as president. He will also be remembered for his love of trucks, trains, gospel music, building models, playing games (hated losing), Walker Texas Ranger, Wrestling, Los Angels Dodgers, traveling around with his wife, NFL Football the Cleveland Browns and the Denver Broncos, his love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Melissa) Maples; daughter, Trisha (Mel) Szymanski; grandchildren, Joshua (Christina) Maples, Daniel Szczygielski, Kimberlee Szczygielski, Nicholas (Candice) Maples, Brandon Maples and Juli Szczygielski; and he is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalind (Roz) Maples; his parents; his brother, Joe; sister, Carolyn; his youngest grandson, David Szczygielski; and in-laws, Rev. Harry & Helen Russell.
