Carolyn Norfleet was born May 30, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ellis Williams and Lola Victoria (Hickman) Williams. She and her family moved to Des Moines seeking a quiet place to live and grow.
Carolyn graduated from Des Moines Tech High and worked to become an LPN. She was employed by several hospices until her health began to fail.
Carolyn loved the Lord and her calling from Him was to serve. She loved helping people, taking care of their needs. She was a member of the Helping Ministry at Clearview Church; and she recently joined her brothers church, Zion Missionary Church.
Carolyn was a great cook so you would always be welcome at her table. But she didn't cook Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Those were her off days for cooking. Carolyn was a quiet person. She was an avid reader and loved talking long walks or cycling. Her best friend was her cat, Olivia, that she took great care of.
Early on the morning of March 11, 2015, God quietly called Carolyn's name, and she answered His call. Waiting to greet her on the other side were her parents, Ellis and Lola Williams and her sister, Catherine.
Left to remember Carolyn's shy smile and determined nature are her children, Norman Norfleet and Tyricea Williams; her siblings, Michael Williams and Ernest Williams; her nieces, Jody and Dorian and nephew, Fred Williams along with her three grandchildren.
A Memorial service for Carolyn will be held TODAY, 11 am at Amazing Grace Ministries at the corner of 52nd and Franklin.
